Frequently Asked Questions

  • No. Lumené provides in-home newborn visits designed to complement — not replace — your baby’s primary pediatrician. We encourage all families to establish ongoing care with a pediatric practice for routine well-child visits, vaccinations, and long-term follow-up.

  • After submitting your inquiry, you will receive secure electronic intake forms and payment instructions through our client portal. All required forms and payment must be completed prior to your appointment. Once finalized, your visit is confirmed.

  • Each visit includes a comprehensive newborn wellness assessment, including weight check, vital signs, physical examination, feeding assessment, and time for individualized parent education and questions. Jaundice screening may be performed if clinically indicated.

  • Families are encouraged to inquire during pregnancy to ensure availability during the first week home. Most visits take place within 3–7 days after discharge, depending on individual needs. Appointment timing is finalized once baby arrives.

If your baby has already arrived, you may still inquire. Appointments are scheduled based on availability.

  • Yes. After your in-home newborn visit, you will receive a secure electronic visit summary outlining exam findings, weight, feeding guidance, and any recommendations discussed. This documentation may be shared with your baby’s pediatrician if desired.

  • Payment is required at the time of booking to reserve your appointment. Because we provide personalized, in-home medical care, appointment times are limited and scheduled in advance.

  • Lumené does not provide emergency medical services. If your baby develops a fever in the first month of life, difficulty breathing, poor feeding, persistent vomiting, lethargy, or other concerning symptoms, please contact your pediatrician immediately or seek emergency medical care.

  • Lumené operates as a private-pay service and does not bill insurance directly. Families are responsible for payment at the time of booking.

  • Post-visit messaging support is included with your newborn visit package and varies based on the level of care selected. Messaging is intended for non-urgent questions related to your baby’s care plan.

Messages are reviewed during regular business hours and are not monitored continuously. We strive to respond within 24 business hours. Messaging is not a substitute for urgent or emergency medical care.

  •  Families may choose to use HSA or FSA funds if permitted by their individual employer-sponsored plan. We recommend confirming eligibility directly with your plan administrator. A detailed receipt can be provided upon request for documentation purposes

  • Because appointment times are reserved specifically for your family, cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations or same-day changes may be subject to a fee. Full cancellation and refund details are outlined in your booking agreement.

  • Lumené provides in-home newborn care led by a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner, bringing advanced pediatric training directly into your home during the earliest days after discharge. We believe this season deserves care that feels calm, unhurried, and clinically sound — with thoughtful guidance, feeding support, weight checks, and evidence-based reassurance along the way. Our approach is both medically grounded and deeply personal, meeting families where they are — physically and emotionally.

  • Parents may request a visit summary and superbill by email within one week, that may be submitted to your insurance for possible reimbursement based on your plan’s newborn well-visit benefits.

  • Lumené specializes in early newborn transition support during the first weeks at home. Ongoing primary pediatric care, vaccinations, and long-term management should be established with a pediatric practice.

  • Each package includes secure messaging access for non-urgent newborn questions during the post-visit period outlined above. Messages are answered during business hours, with responses typically provided within 24 hours.

Lumené does not provide emergency services. If your baby is experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or seek immediate medical care.
